Major changes in Employement Law and HR Management placed under the spotlight at Furley Page workshop

A host of sweeping changes which will reshape employment law and human resource management in the workplace will be studied during a workshop in Kent organised by leading law firm Furley Page.

The Employment Law Update 2017-18 event, run in partnership with Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce on 18 October, will examine and explain how these proposed changes will impact on Kent employers.

Under the spotlight will be the likely increase in claims following the abolition of Employment Tribunal fees, proposals to extend rights to workers in the gig economy, and a number of important legal decisions which are likely to have far-reaching implications for the management of staff.

The workshop, which is open to chamber members and non-members whatever the size of their workforce, will be led by Andrew Masters, Partner and Head of Employment at Furley Page.

Andrew says: “Our workshop will consider everything from new employment protection proposals following the Taylor Review to cyber-security issues linked to the new General Data Protection Regulations.

“As well as practical guidance, there will be question and answer sessions so there’s plenty of opportunity for delegates to raise issues of concern.”

Andrew will be joined by Amanda Okill, a Senior Associate who specialises in employment law. Both are part of Furley Page’s highly regarded Employment Team, which is recommended by the independent legal guides Chambers UK and The Legal 500. Andrew is personally top ranked in the South East by Chambers UK, while Amanda is also recognised.
