Congratulations to asb law who were awarded the KCFA Best Deal of the Year 2017/8 last night, for acting in the sale of Jollyes Retail Group Ltd.

The event was a great success with judges Alex Hay and Chris Price presenting the winner and runner up with their certificates and prize. asb law, who advised the winning Jollyes Retail Group deal, collected their award on the evening and Claire Williams, Corporate Finance Partner at asb law, said a few words:

“We are delighted to have won this award, which recognises our role in the sale of Jollyes Retail Group Ltd. Kent remains a great place for businesses to prosper with strong M&A activity, which continues at pace.”

Completed on 25th May 2018, the deal involved the sale of the Jollyes holding company for a combination of cash, shares, and additional conditional consideration.

The multi-disciplined legal team at asb law was led by Corporate Finance Partners, Claire Williams and Helen Mead, supported by Associate Daniel Tozer and Solicitor Chloe Gill, working alongside Property Services Partner Chris Worthington and Associate Angela Ruminski.

Runner up on the evening was Meta Corporate Finance for advising SIP Group on cross-border sale to Colliers International. This deal involved advising the shareholders on how to develop their business and prepare for an eventual exit. In addition to advice on value, identification of prospective purchasers and deal structure, more long-term planning issues included advice on investment in the SIP team and on handling unsolicited acquisition approaches.

Thank you to all those who attended last night and congratulations to those that were involved in both deals, as well as all those that participated in the awards. A special thank you to both Alex Hay and Chris Price, for which we were delighted to have as our judges this year.
