Birds of Prey, Laser Clay Shooting And Archery

A birds of prey flying display, terrier racing and ‘have a go’ archery will be just some of the major attractions at the 72nd annual East Kent Ploughing Match to be held on 28 September at Grange Farm, Mill Lane, Nonington, near Canterbury.

Furley Page Solicitors has teamed up with The Hawking Centre from Doddington Place Gardens for the event, which regularly attracts more than 4,000 visitors each year.

“We look forward to welcoming clients old and new to our stand from 9am onwards for hot drinks and Danish pastries followed by a local cheese buffet and drinks at lunchtime,” says Senior Associate Ethan Desai from Furley Page’s Agriculture and Rural Business Team.

“Throughout the day The Hawking Centre will be bringing their birds of prey into our marquee for our guests to enjoy. We are also offering our guests a chance to have a go at archery or enter into our laser clay shooting competition,” adds Ethan.

Visitors will be able to explore around 100 trade stands and enjoy a range of delicious local food and drink. There are also a variety of products on sale in the craft tent, a display of vintage tractors and engines to admire, and a tug of war to cheer!

The ploughing competitions will be as keenly contested as ever, featuring the latest tractors and ploughs plus vintage and horse-drawn ploughs to give enthusiasts a day to remember.

Ethan says: “The East Kent Ploughing Match is a vibrant day out suitable for adults and children alike. It has been a popular feature of the region’s agricultural scene for many decades and we’re delighted to be involved again.

“This year we have linked up with The Hawking Centre to bring their crowd-pleasing demonstrations to share space with us. As anyone who has seen them at county shows, school visits, fairs and fetes will know, their displays are exhilarating and enjoyed by all.”
