CooperBurnett raises £15,000 for ellenor

The Tunbridge Wells-based law firm, CooperBurnett, has raised an incredible £15,676.41 for hospice charity ellenor over the past 12 months – smashing the original target it set of £10,000.

ellenorprovides hospice care for babies, children and young people in the comfort of their own homes across South West Kent (in addition to North Kent and the London Borough of Bexley).

The sum raised by CooperBurnett could help to pay for 179 sessions of chemotherapy in the home for the charity’s young patients, preventing unnecessary trips to hospital, ensuring families are kept together whenever possible or just over three months of play or music therapy, helping children – patients or siblings - to communicate and make sense of their emotions at such a difficult time.

The team at CooperBurnett – which includes ellenor Ambassador, Victoria Sampson – has undertaken a variety of fundraising activities over the past year to raise funds for the charity. This has included organising a curry night and the firm’s Katie Hilsdon taking part in the Brighton Marathon, while, in June, a team from the firm successfully completed the Three Peaks Challenge.

“We are delighted to have raised such an amazing amount for ellenor,” says Victoria Sampson. “As an Ambassador for the charity, I know what a difference the incredible support ellenor gives its families makes.”

Adds Katie Hilsdon: “It’s been great fun – and challenging – to have taken part in the fundraisers we’ve completed during the past year for ellenor. The Three Peaks Challenge was such an amazing experience and I am so proud to have taken part.”

CooperBurnett has pledged to continue supporting ellenor. Currently, it is one of 15 firms from across Kent taking part in the ellenor Accumulator Challenge. Each business has been given £50 and three months to grow this into something bigger for the hospice charity.

“A huge thank you to CooperBurnett for raising such a fabulous amount of money for ellenor – which will help us to continue providing vital support to families facing terminal illness locally,” says Sarah Neville, Area Fundraiser for South West Kent. “Thank you also to all the businesses which have supported CooperBurnett over the past 12 months.”
