Reeves’ Partnership Changes

After eighteen years in the role, Clive Stevens has decided to step down as Managing Partner at Reeves with effect from 31 December 2013.

Clive will continue as a full time partner in the firm and will succeed David Ashman, who steps down from the role, as Executive Chairman on 1 January 2014. Clive said “on behalf of the partners I would like to thank David for all his work for the partnership as Chairman and for his wise counsel over many years – his contribution to the firm has been significant”.

Following this change, in order to deliver the Firm’s future growth and development, it has recognised the need for an additional leadership role.   Nigel Fright has been appointed Managing Partner of the firm from 1 January 2014. In addition, at the same time, Andrew Griggs has been appointed Senior Partner with a main focus on being responsible for client services. Both Nigel and Andrew have been members of the Board for some time and have a wealth of experience to bring to their new roles both in relation to client handling and central management.

Clive’s period in office has seen considerable change in the fortunes of the firm. Since 1995, when he was first appointed, the firm has grown by four times to a fee income in excess of £20 million and now employs over 250 people. The firm has also opened offices in North Kent, Gatwick and London, growing organically as well as by merger. Work advising and servicing international clients has been a growth area for the firm and Clive will continue to represent the firm internationally as a Board director at Kreston International, the firm’s global accounting network, as well as represent the profession as a Council member for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

In recent years, the firm has won many awards for its client service, including Best Tax team at the Lexis Nexis Taxation Awards twice, Accountancy Age Large Firm of the Year Award in 2009, KEIBA Large Business of the year in 2011 and only last month M&A Accountancy Firm of the Year for 2013. In addition, Clive commented “I am particularly proud that we were shortlisted in the Sunday Times Employer of the Year in 2013 as ‘One to Watch’ - our people are at the heart of all we do”.

Clive further said “I am delighted to have Nigel and Andrew succeed to my current role and for them to be able to take the firm forward at a time of considerable change for the profession as a whole. They are both extremely talented individuals and I know they will be able to head the firm and lead it to even greater success over the next few years”.

Nigel commented “I am absolutely honoured to be appointed by my partners to this exciting and challenging role as Managing Partner. The firm has achieved so much over the last few years. The team of myself and Andrew, with the continuing benefit of Clive’s counsel, will be able to take the firm forward to even greater successes in the future”.

Andrew added “Client Service is core to our offering as a professional service firm – I am proud that my partners have recognised this as a specific role. Having introduced new services to the Firm and helped the firm expand geographically, my role will focus on the identification, development and promotion of the Firm’s technical and industry specific service lines whilst ensuring that we maintain high standards of expertise and service. It is vital that as we continue to grow the firm we do not lose sight of our main purpose which is to serve our clients with excellence”.
