asb law makes move into legal project management with the hire of business transformation expert Bernard Lazar

asb law has today announced the hire of Bernard Lazar as Director of Client Services for the Commercial Client Service teams. Lazar, previously of Berwin Leighton Paisner, Hewlett Packard and Fujitsu takes on the role with the specific remit of developing new and alternative offerings to clients adopting lean service delivery methods and project management techniques underpinned by innovative technology that will support the new operational infrastructure.

The appointment is a significant step in the restructuring of the asb law business – a process which has been under way since late 2013. In a market-leading move, asb law has aligned its operations firmly to client needs by appointing partners to roles that reflect client businesses and not to usual legal disciplines. In his role, Lazar will work closely with partners in not only creating new propositions for clients, but in re-engineering the way in which legal services are delivered.

Commenting on the changes, managing partner Andrew Clinton states “For a number of years clients of legal services have been requesting change from their external legal advisers – asking for more transparency, efficient and flexible resourcing of matters, and requesting a clear sense of certainty on budgets. By realigning our business to client segments, and by investing heavily in re-engineering our processes, we are responding to those requests. Bernard’s experience in business transformation utilising techniques such as process re-engineering, lean service delivery, six sigma and other project management tools will help us to deliver additional value to our clients.”

Asked why he chose to join asb law, Lazar comments “Although a smaller firm than BLP, asb law is committed to championing and driving real change in the way legal services are delivered and to be an integral part of this change is an exciting prospect.”
