Aquatrols of Paulsboro, New Jersey has acquired organic fertiliser business Farmura Environmental Limited in a cross-border deal that brings together one of the leading manufacturers of surfactant products in the United States and one of the UK’s market leaders in turf products and soil health.

Farmura, headquartered in Egerton, near Ashford in Kent, distributes its products throughout the UK and Europe and counts many of the UK’s top 100 Championship golf courses among its customers, including seven of the nine Open Championship courses. Aquatrols has been the leading provider of soil surfactants and other technologies used to optimise soil-water-plant interactions for more than 50 years.

This merger formally brings together two businesses which have worked together for many years and will enable further penetration of Farmura products into new and existing markets.

Jonathan Harmer of Farmura said:  “We have known Aquatrols for many years and we have often talked about joining the two businesses together.  I hadn’t appreciated the amount of work which would go into the process so I am delighted that, with the help of Reeves and Brachers, we have achieved it.” John Cowie of Reeves and James Bullock and Matt Simmonds of Brachers advised the shareholders of Farmura.

Jonathan Harmer added:  “Reeves had the skills and the all-hours dedication to see this cross border transaction through to a successful conclusion. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
