Reeves’ Matthew Emmerson – Double World Champion

Reeves, one of the South East’s leading accountancy and financial services firms, are proud to announce that employee Matthew Emmerson has been crowned World Champion at the men’s Auckland Paratriathlon World Championships triathlon 2012.

Last year’s ITU World Triathlon Series took place in October and was held in Auckland. The championship is an innovative series that allows the world’s top athletes to compete head-to-head on an on-going basis. This is expanding upon the previous single-day World Championship, the format features seven world-class events and finishes with an exciting Grand Final.

Matthew, who is based in Reeves’ Canterbury office and lives in Sandwich, travelled to Auckland on 11 October in preparation to take part in the triathlon world championships. His first event was the ITU aquathlon on 17th October and was a swim to run race. Matthew then took part in the ITU paratriathlon on 22nd October which consisted of a swim, to bike, to run competition.

Matthew won both of the races that he competed in, becoming a double World Champion. Upon winning the men’s triathlon 2012 World Championships Matthew commented, “I am thrilled to be a double world champion and I am glad that the hard work and all my training has paid off! I just want to thank everyone at Reeves for all their support along the way.”

Clive Stevens, Managing Partner at Reeves, commented: “This is such a remarkable achievement and everyone at Reeves congratulates Matthew on his success. We all wish Matthew the best of luck for the Paralympic games and look forward to watching him at Rio 2016!”
