Winner of KCFA Deal of the Year

Hillreed Homes wins KCFA Best Deal of the Year 2012

The sale of Hillreed Homes to Persimmon PLC, advised by asb law LLP, has won the KCFA Deal of the Year 2012.


Presented by the KCFA Chairman, John Harley, on Tuesday 23rd April at the Innovation Centre Medway, Claire Williams, who acted as lead advisor for the deal, was thrilled to pick up the award.

asb law’s acted on the sale of Hillreed Homes to Persimmon plc, the UK’s largest house builder, in a deal that valued one of Kent’s most high profile developers in excess of £35million. Mike Farley, Group Chief Executive of Persimmon commented: “The Hillreed name and brand is very complementary to our existing portfolio; this acquisition strengthens our position in the south east and demonstrates our commitment to continued land investment to support our growth strategy.” The selling shareholders were advised by asb law, KPMG, Reeves and UHY Hacker Young. According to Claire Williams who led on behalf of asb law, this deal is likely to go down as one of the biggest in the region this year.

 

Reeves, who acted as lead accounts for the deal were also recognised on the night with a certificate being awarded and collected by Andrew Griggs of Reeves.

 

Runners up on the night were Castle Corporate Finance who advised Goudhurst-based security group, Swift Alarms, on the acquisition of Crimewave Solutions. A Bedfordshire-based provider of CCTV, intruder alarms and investigation services to national retail and leisure sectors, Crimewave was established 11 years ago by managing director Justin Hammond, who remains with Swift Group to further develop the business. Swift Alarms Group chairman, Roger Rawlings, adds: “Mike kept his foot hard down on the deal accelerator and promptly dealt with all challenges in a constructive and positive manner. We at Swift are excited at the national expansion prospects Crimewave can deliver for the whole group.”

 “We saw Crimewave as being a perfect fit for Swift, the deal negotiations were intense but most satisfying in that all parties wanted a prompt completion – 12 weeks from start to completion is indeed a swift conclusion,” says Castle director, Mike Norrie. Castle Corporate Finance were supported in the deal by KCFA member,Warner Solicitors of Tonbridge.

 

Uniquely voted for by partners and peers, the KCFA awards were launched to recognise the best deals carried out by KCFA members in the Kent and South East region throughout 2012.
