CooperBurnett advises Pinden in its acquisition of Asbestos Waste Solutions

CooperBurnett recently advised Pinden in its acquisition of Thurrock-based Asbestos Waste Solutions. This marks a further expansion for Orpington-based Pinden Limited, the waste management, recycling and asbestos disposal specialist. Pinden works across the South East and beyond and offers a one-stop-shop for the construction industry, collecting and recycling waste and delivering recycled aggregates.

Over the past few years, Pinden has made significant investment in plant and machinery, to maximise the efficiency of the recycling operation and reclaim as much of the material for recycling and re-use. The company’s aim is to recycle 100 per cent of the waste on site.

The CooperBurnett team, which was led by corporate partner, Victoria Sampson, has worked with Pinden, and other companies within the group, since 2005.

“Victoria’s approach on this deal, as with our previous transactions, was professional in every aspect,” says Peter Osmond, Group Accountant at Pinden. “She was cool and unruffled and never lost sight of what we were hoping to achieve by doing the deal.”

Asbestos Waste Solutions provides a nationwide start to finish service for safe and secure asbestos removal and disposal.

“Pinden’s acquisition of Asbestos Waste Solutions marks further expansion by the growing group and builds on its waste transfer services,” says Victoria.

The deal began in November last year and completed on 25 April 2013.

“The environmental and planning considerations, which are involved with an asbestos-related business, had to be carefully taken into account,” adds Victoria. “We worked very closely with the client, the vendors’ solicitor and the bank throughout.”

Peter explains that Pinden is investing in the business, Asbestos Waste Solutions, to ensure complete integration into the group and looks forward to its growing success.

“We are benefiting from the nationwide presence of our new purchase, while Asbestos Waste Solutions has access to our haulage fleet and landfill facilities, for instance,” adds Peter.
